[HEDVIG HJERTAKER]

: THE MODERN ADVENTURER

At the age of 28, Hedvig Hjertaker became the World's Youngest Female South Pole Explorer. For 49 days, she walked alone in an effective minus 50-degrees with a sled weighing 104 kilograms. She dreams big, sets goals, and achieves them.

For the past decade, Hedvig has had a great interest in outdoor adventures that challenge her determination, patience, and independence. She grew up in the center of Bergen, a coastal city nestled among seven mountains in Norway. Back them her entire childhood was spent in swimming pools, and she has won countless national swimming championships. In her daily life, Hedvig works as a specialized dental hygienist for people with dental phobia, which helps her overcome her own fears.

After a tough bout of mononucleosis (kissing disease) at the age of 19, and later losing her mother to cancer, Hedvig has learned to seize time and opportunities while she can. Her father always says, "life is only as fun as we make it." She is the modern adventurer. Previously, she has crossed Greenland, Hardangervidda, Finnmarksvidda, and Jotunheimen, and climbed the highest mountain in South America, Aconcagua.

Hedvig is committed to making her life as fun and adventurous as possible, whether it's by trekking across Spain, climbing Aconcagua, or journeying alone to the South Pole. It all starts with putting one foot in front of the other.
